The spectacular wildlife of Willow Tree Fen in south Lincolnshire can be viewed from a designated viewing area. It gives wonderful views of the landscape and opportunities to see wildlife including Lincolnshires only pair of breeding cranes, marsh harrier, lapwing, teal, barn owl, snipe and much more. Situated between Baston and Spalding, Willow Tree Fen was purchased by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust in 2009. Formerly arable land with a number of low depressions that become waterlogged in wet periods, in wet periods, the fen is being restored to a typical wet fenland landscape, including a mixture of reedbeds, shallow meres, seasonally flooded pastures and hay meadows, providing habitats for rare and threatened wetland species.
