I was born in 1977 in Yakto, a village of Gümüşgöze, Antakya/Hatay. My father, Hasan Büyükaşık, was a fourth generation descendant of an artisan family manufacturing and weaving silk. Like my father, I became interested in this craft as early as the age of 8. Before going to the school in the morning and after I came back, I used to go help my father with the silk reeling and at the same time I listened to his every word very carefully.
