About Company
The Nautical Museum is a Museum located at Bridge St, Castletown, Isle of Man, IM9 1AX IM9 1TE, Isle of Man.
The Peggy has temporarily been removed to a specialist building for a long-term programme of stabilisation, conservation and study. Visit the Manx National Heritage website for further information and to book: 1. Guided tours of Peggys conservation facility 2. Castletown Site Tours including the Nautical Museum. For more than 200 years the Nautical Museum (Yn Thie Tashtee Lhuingey) in Castletown was home to the Peggy, the earliest surviving schooner, and the only surviving shallop. The Peggy was built by the inventive Captain George Quayle, who in his time was a businessman, banker, soldier and alleged smuggler.
