ARCA Space is an aerospace non-profit organization, founded in 1999 by Dumitru Popescu. The team designed, built and launched rockets, solar and helium balloons, drones and flying hoverboards. The first rocket, Demonstrator 2B was launched in 2004 from Cape Midia Air Force Base. As of 2019 the teams main activity is focused on the development of water-based electric rocket engine called Launch Assist System (LAS) and the Haas 2C rocket. Both vehicles are using a high efficiency aerospike rocket engine. The LAS 25 first test firing took place in April 2019 and the first flight is expected in 2020.
